Elizabeth ‘Betty’ S. Taylor of Toughkenamon
Elizabeth “Betty” S. Taylor, 86, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Friends Home/Linden Hall, Kennett Square. She was the wife of the late Lewis H. Taylor with whom she shared 66 blessed years of marriage. Mr. Taylor passed away February 10, 2012. Born in Toughkenamon, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ella Butler Smith. She was a member of the Toughkenamon Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth was employed by Good Roads Machinery Co. and was a bookkeeper for her husband’s construction business and a homemaker. The neighborhood children flocked to Elizabeth’s home like a magnet. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, babysitting and hosting family functions. She is survived by five children; Bette Lou Epler, and husband, Bill of Quarryville, Charles R. Taylor and his wife, Catherine, and Jeanne C. Taylor all of Toughkenamon, Lewis H. Taylor, Jr. and wife, Susan of Landenberg, and Kathleen A. Davis and husband, Zello of Jennersville; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Smith and, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter-in-law, Nancy Taylor, four brothers, James Weatherby, Russell Weatherby, William H. Smith, Jr., and Eubert (Ike) Smith, and three sisters, Martha Weatherby Jester, Gertrude Weatherby, and Mary Weatherby Harlan. Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Longwood Cemetery.
